Carbon Capture and Storage
What is carbon capture and storage?
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies capture CO2 emissions from industrial activity or the air, and store them to reduce their impact on global warming. CCS technologies include both low-tech “natural” carbon removal techniques (e.g. afforestation/reforestation, wetland restoration, grassland conservation, marine and soil sequestration, climate-friendly farming) as well as newer technologies such as direct air capture (DAC) of carbon, bioenergy carbon capture and storage (BECCS), carbon capture via wastewater treatment, and carbon-capturing building materials.
