What is the Citizens Broadband Radio Service?

Also known as the "innovation band," the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) is lightly licensed, shared spectrum (3.55-3.7 GHz) within the 5G mid band, which can handle both 4G LTE and 5G and has been called the “sweet spot” of speed, range and less interference. As a lightly licensed option, the CBRS in contrast to prior models of exclusive carrier-licensed bands or unlicensed “wild west” spectrum. The use cases for CBRS include mobile broadband and fixed wireless access, as well as private cell networks.
