Ecommerce Aggregator
What is an ecommerce aggregator?
An ecommerce aggregator or rollup typically acquires smaller DTC (direct-to-consumer) sellers/merchants that are on platforms like Amazon or Shopify, and folds them into a holding company or investor-incubator. The intent is generally to provide scale efficiencies to micro-merchants and product brands – through tools and data, improving operations and profitability, streamlining the customer experience, increasing discoverability, negotiating with platforms, bringing them into physical stores, or turning them into global brands.
