Xenotransplantation
What is xenotransplantation?
Xenotransplantation is the concept of transplanting animal organs into human patients. Researchers have been working on xenotransplantation for decades, and have been experimenting with full organ transplants from specially raised, clinical-grade pigs from pathogen-free facilities. There are still lots of unanswered questions about the efficacy of xenotransplantation, especially long-term survival rates and the health of recipients.
